Phaplu is found in the lower Everest Region 270km from Kathmandu. A beautiful village sprawling across the hillside. This place holds a secret. It has by far some of the best trails in Nepal. Phaplu and its surrounds is a paradise for single track loving mountain bikers. This sleepy region is fast waking up to its potential and is establishing itself as one of Nepal’s premier mountain biking hotspots.
Trails span out from Phaplu, Junbesi and Ringmo up to the 4040m summit of Pikey Peak from where there are breathtaking views of the magical junction where mountain ranges meet and march to the horizon east and west, forested hills merge with subtropical jungles and Nepal’s national flower, the Rhododendron splashes it’s colour in spring. The air hangs with the scent of spruce, sandalwood and pine, the natural incense of the Himalaya, energizing the riders.
Roads and shuttle access make it suitable for enduro riders as well as those who don’t mind to pedal the ups. Trails vary from rocky exposed hill tops at 4000+ meters, to loamy, rooty jungle trails right down to the depths of white water rivers. It’s fast, it’s naturally technical and the flow will put a smile on everyone’s face!
